Feather extensions and dyed hair?
Feather extensions can be dyed much in the way that the hair on our heads can be dyed. Permanent, semi-permanent and deposit only hair color can all be used on hair extensions. Purchase the hair color. While color that comes in a box that can be purchased at a drugstore is a valid option, better color results come from using higher quality hair dye. Do strands test on the hair extensions? Even if you are experienced at dying your own hair, the hair that is used for the hair extensions may react to color differently than your hair. Choose a small piece of hair and use a clip to separate it from the rest of the hair. Wear gloves and mix together half of a teaspoon of color and half of a teaspoon of developer. You can use more or less depending on the length of the hair. Coat the piece of hair with the hair dye. Prepare the hair extensions. Use a wide toothed comb and comb through them. Make sure that they are dry. Lay them on a towel. As this towel is likely to get stained, try and use an old one. Put on gloves and mix the hair dye and the developer together. Apply the hair color to the hair extensions. Coat every single strand with hair color. Lay the hair extensions on the towel. Rinse the hair color out. Use warm water and rinse the hair color out of the extensions thoroughly. After rinsing, apply conditioner and allow it to remain in the hair for three minutes and then wash it out. Gently use a wide toothed comb and detangle the extensions while they are wet.
