Amazon.com Shipping Question?

Ok im buying an item thats $12.00 i live in Houston Texas, how much will shipping be and do they add tax as well? im asking this qestion because im buying another item thats free shipping and i have a budget so i need to make sure that the 12 dollar item doesnt **** it up. Thanks!
